What are somethings you enjoy about your chosen field?
Fixing problems immediately. If a woman is having abnormal uterine bleeding and she is done with child bearing—then I would do a hysterectomy, and her quality of life would improve. Seeing that gives me so much satisfaction.
What are somethings you wish were different about your chosen field? What are some of the challenges you face within your field? Were there obstacles you had to overcome?
I wish I would of shadowed more. Have an open mind when going to medical school. I experienced a lot of turmoil deciding what field to go into.
What is your lifestyle like? What are your hours like? Do you take call?
It varies. Outpatient office to procedures. Hospitalist to inpatient OR days. And of course overnight calls.
What advice would you give to women considering pursuing a career in your field? Would you recommend your field to them?
Yes! Bringing life into the world is AMAZING. Walking a teen through her first menstrual cycle to walking a woman through menopause is rewarding.

Mentorship is important. Find people early on who you trust and connect with!
